Yes, your money is very secure with Beacon. We are registered as a money services business with the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC). FINTRAC is Canada’s financial intelligence unit, responsible for overseeing anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing efforts. Beacon’s registration number is M24990611. We are currently also awaiting completion of our registration (expected in September 2025) as a Payment Service Provider with the Bank of Canada under Canada’s newly introduced RPAA. Beacon is committed to operating in full compliance with Canadian financial regulations while maintaining the highest standards of security and transparency.
You can send money to almost anyone with a valid UPI ID. Just make sure to select the appropriate purpose for the transfer (e.g., family support, education, etc.). Some transfers may be prohibited under restrictions (for example, if the recipient’s bank or NPCI has placed restrictions on the account)- in such a case, the transfers will be rejected. Please note that some banks don’t currently support foreign inward remittance on UPI. Here is a link for all the banks that accept it. Sending UPI transfers to a business UPI ID is a feature that is coming soon.
Before you send the money, we’ll display the full name linked to the UPI ID so you can confirm it belongs to the correct person. If you accidentally send money to the wrong person, you can contact our support team to try initiating a dispute. However, please note that UPI transactions are typically irreversible and will only be reversed at the recipient’s bank’s discretion.
